CSI Initial / CS1 Stage 1
Six Week Course // £5,400

The course is designed to provide foundation learning and skills for development for CSI’s appointed to VCSI/Level 1 positions. It is appropriate for new appointees with no prior experience in the role.
It will introduce ethical and behavioural best practice, as well as provide foundational inputs to core competency areas including: photography (record and evidential), scene approach, static and dynamic risk assessment, DNA, trace evidence, footwear and tyre marks, and fingerprint development with powders and enhancement techniques.
In addition, the course will look at specialist imaging techniques and their uses in the courtroom. New and existing practical skills will be further addressed through a final courtroom exercise.

CSI Conversion / CSI Stage 2
Three Week Course // £2,700

The course is designed to build upon the formal foundation training gained by CSI’s during VCSI or Stage 1 initial training courses and utilises the professional experience gained in related roles.
It will provide a rapid refreshment on best practice approaches to basic evidence recovery before addressing more advanced issues of wider scene logistics and management. Multiple aspects of crime scene investigation, including intelligence gathering, assessment and dissemination will be covered in detail. The course will also provide non-assessed awareness inputs on firearms, fire scenes, drugs and disciplines with niche evidence types.
More serious crime scenes will be covered in depth, including: murder and unexplained death, decomposition, post-mortems, sudden infant death and sexual offences. Specialist techniques and disciplines will be further addressed by a scenario-based linked final exercise and an assessed written paper, which will explore forensic strategies and evidence recovery plans.

Crime Scene Management CSM
Two Week Course // £1,800

This course is designed to provide advanced skills, major scene awareness and strategic decision-making tools to develop new Crime Scene Managers. It is suitable for experienced CSIs undertaking Crime Scene Management duties.
It will provide an introduction to the role of CSM and the structure of the major incident investigation, in-depth sessions on the production of major crime logs, the direction of CSI staff on scenes, and the deployment and management of forensic scientists. This learning is then tested and applied through an innovative three-day immersive scenario of linked crime scenes.
