Dr Karl Harrison is one of the directors of Alecto Forensics and is the Lead Forensic Ecologist. He is also one of the UK’s leading practitioner-researchers in forensic archaeology having been involved in this discipline since 2001. He is an experienced and dedicated forensic archaeologist and forensic ecology adviser with a strong background in operational crime scene coordination, management and investigation, having previously worked in these roles for two UK police forces. Over the past eighteen years, he has examined approximately 6000 crime scenes as a general criminalist, and in excess of 200 scenes as a forensic archaeologist/ecologist.
In addition to his ongoing casework commitments, Dr Harrison is also a Visiting Professor at the University of West London, an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Cardiff University’s School of History, Archaeology and Religion, and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities at Oxford University. His research interests are based on both forensic archaeology and the examination of burnt structures in the traditional archaeological record.
Dr Harrison has extensive experience of international deployment, having conducted forensic casework and worked on forensic capability development programmes across a range of countries.
