Steve Johnson is the Head of Intelligence & Hazardous Specialist Services at Alecto Forensics. He has 22 years of experience within the UK military and police. He is also the Director of the MSc in Forensic Explosive and Explosion Investigation at Cranfield University, where he has managed and developed modules on Forensic Intelligence, OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), Hazardous Investigation, and Counter Improvised Explosive Device capability.
He is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, Washington D.C., where he has taught Terrorism, CBRNe, International Disaster response, and Emergency and Disaster Management policy and law. He was recently appointed to a number of committees at the University of Rome Tor Vergata on their CBRNe Protection Master of Engineering program, where he has also taught explosives, CBRNe, and crisis communication.
He advises the Insurance industry on CBRNe and other terrorist attacks. His calculations and models have been used by a wide range of insurers and reinsurers and his PhD research focuses on numerical methods to forecast frequency and severity of political violence using historical data sources.
